Scribble Children's Therapy - Fees and Pricing

Direct and Indirect Services

 

Scribble Children’s Therapy currently provides speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology, art therapy, and key working services.

Any service provided by Scribble Children’s Therapy professionals that directly benefits the child’s program, that is not a cost of doing business will be invoiced.

Scribble Children’s Therapy will invoice/charge for all direct and indirect costs associated with the child’s program.

Direct contact charges includes all activities where we are working directly with you, your child or relevant others:

  • Therapy at the clinic, home, kindergarten, school
  • Telehealth consultations
  • Traveling for community visits
  • PSG meetings, NDIS meetings, or meetings of similar nature

 

There may be situations where we will bill for our services when you are not present. These are referred to as indirect contact charges. Our team takes measures to remind you of the anticipated cost of services that you request from us. Below are some examples of when a service is billed.

 

  • Speaking with a third party (i.e. a health professional, doctor, teacher)
  • Multidisciplinary consultations between Scribble’s therapists
  • Reviewing past reports or a communication outside a session
  • Making referrals to other professionals outside a session
  • Report writing
  • Resource preparation
  • Homework packs
  • Communications including all phone calls and emails
  • Research
  • Non-labour cost of traveling
  • Program reviews and adjustments

 

 

Program Outline

 

Your child’s program will typically follow the steps outlined below. 

 

STEP 1

ABOUT THE CHILD

During the initial consultation, you will meet with your child’s health professional to discuss their role, your child and your family. This is the first step to the beginning of your therapy journey.

 

STEP 2

SERVICE PLANNING

During this session you will liaise with your health professional regarding your short term and long term goals and how your funds will be allocated. Your therapist will spend time planning your child’s therapy plan.

 

STEP 3

INFORMATION GATHERING

If applicable your therapist will advise you if further information gathering is required to inform therapy or if this is required at a later time.

 

STEP 4

THERAPY

Your therapist will implement the agreed therapy plan through face-to-face therapy, indirect activities, and other agreed service delivery methods to support you and your child to work towards set goals. The initial objective of therapy is rapport-building and observations.

 

STEP 5

GOAL REVIEWS

Goal reviews are conducted 6-monthly, or more frequently as required. This is an important step to measure changes and make adaptations to shorter-term goals as necessary.

STEP 1

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Clinic-based initial consultation (Not including report)

The duration of the initial consultation can vary depending on your circumstances. The initial consultation may include indirect time. If the appointment exceeds 60 minutes, a follow-up appointment may need to be booked to finalise the information gathering. Additional time will be charged to the nearest 5-minute by the hourly rate of $193.99

 

Clinic-based initial consultation (Not including report)

Please allow up to two hours for this appointment. The duration of the initial consultation can vary depending on your circumstances. The initial consultation may include indirect time.

If the appointment exceeds 120 minutes, a follow-up appointment may need to be booked to finalise the information gathering. Additional time will be charged to the nearest 5-minute by the hourly rate of $214.41

 

 

STEP 2

SERVICE PLANNING

The service planning and goal-setting session is typically completed via telehealth. This session is booked as 85 minutes, and it is a combination of direct and indirect supports.

STEP 3

INFORMATION GATHERING 

 Additional assessments can be completed if necessary and if requested by the parent/caregiver or recommended by the therapist to inform therapy. The time taken to provide services may vary depending on your circumstances. The following is a guide to what will be provided within a service category and how long we anticipate it will take to reach this outcome. Please see below regarding some examples of further information gathering

 

Sensory OT Assessment (Sensory Profile 2)

Summary of how the child’s sensory patterns may be contributing to or creating barriers to performance in daily life. Upon completion of the Sensory Profile 2, your therapist will be able to generate a report. This fee does not include assessment interpretation or report writing. Please note that this assessment does not include goal planning and a full overview of the child’s functional ability.

Cost of assessment: $48.50

Cost of administration: Approx. $193.99 - $387.98

Additional time will be charged to the nearest 5-minute by the hourly rate of $193.99

 

Functional OT Assessment (Vineland-3)

Vineland 3: The scales are organised using three domains (Communication, Daily Living

Skills, and Socialisation) that correspond to the three broad domains of adaptive

functioning specified by the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental

Disabilities and by DSM-5.

 

Cost of assessment: $48.50

Cost of administration: Approx. $290.99 - $581.97

Additional time will be charged to the nearest 5-minute by the hourly rate of $193.99

 

Speech Pathology Assessments

We provide a variety of formal and informal assessments, including early language

assessments, pre-school and school age language assessments, narrative language

assessments, speech sound assessments, fluency assessments, social communication assessments, literacy assessments, and Autism assessments.

STEP 4

CLINIC-BASED THERAPY

 IF APPLICABLE

 TRAVEL COSTS

 Appointments in the community incur the below costs:

  1. Therapy time (Typically 60 minutes direct therapy + 25 minutes indirect therapy)
  2. Therapy travel time *See below
  3. Provider Travel non-labour cost of $1.00 per km

*Therapy travel time charges:

  • 30 minutes for MMM1-3 (OT/SP/KW/AT $97, and Psychology $107.21)
  • 60 minutes for MMM1-3 if your appointment is the last appointment of the day (OT/SP/KW/AT $193.99, and Psychology $214.41)
  • 60 minutes for MMM 4-5 (OT/SP/KW/AT $193.99, and Psychology $214.41)

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

CLIENT CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations require 48 hours business days notice or Scribble Children’s Therapy will charge 100% of the scheduled appointment cost, including travel charges.

If your appointment is on a Monday or Tuesday, cancellation must be made 48 hours before the appointment (not including the weekend or public holidays). Please refer to Scribble Children’s Therapy’s Cancellation Policy.

 

PROVIDER CANCELLATIONS

Occasionally, Scribble Children’s Therapy may need to cancel scheduled appointments due to reasons such as illness or unexpected circumstances. In such situations, Scribble Children’s Therapy will:

  • make efforts to notify the client by SMS before 9:30 am on the day of the scheduled appointment;
  • strive to provide a rescheduled appointment whenever it is practical and available.

 

DISHONOUR FEE

Private / Medicare / Private Health Insurance / NDIS (self managed) clients

For in-clinic, telehealth and mobile sessions payment will be charged to the client’s credit card at the time of the appointment. A dishonour fee of $15.00 will be added in the event that there are insufficient funds in the client's account.

 

 

INDIRECT TIME

 There may be situations where we will bill for our services when you are not present. These are referred to as indirect contact charges. Our team takes measures to remind you of the anticipated cost of services that you request from us. Below are some examples of when a service is billed.

IF APPLICABLE

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND SPEECH PATHOLOGY REPORT WRITING (WITHOUT ASSESSMENT)

Please discuss your report writing needs with your therapist. We require a minimum of 6 weeks notice for reports. Reports are charged by the therapist’s hourly rate, depending on time taken to write the report. Reports are released once full payment is made. A quote will be provided to you via our ‘Report Writing Consent and Agreement Form.’ The following is a guide. 

 

NDIS Review Report

This report is provided to support the child’s NDIS contact to understand the child’s support needs. It includes clinical observations, summary of assessments (if completed), and recommendations for the next plan period.

Approx. 2 - 5 hours

Equipment/Resource Recommendation Letter

This letter provides Low Cost Low Risk Assistive Technology (resource) recommendations to support the child in their daily life.

 Approx.  1.5 - 2 hours

Supporting Evidence / Recommendation Report

We provide a range of supporting evidence or recommendation reports according to your child’s needs, including but not limited to, kindergarten/school letters, social community participation recommendation letters, carer support letters. Please consult your Occupational Therapist.

Speech Pathology Assessment Report

This includes formal assessments and informal observations in the following areas:

articulation (speech clarity), receptive language (comprehension), expressive language (talking), fluency (stuttering), social communication, play, and functional status.

Literacy Assessment Report

This includes formal assessment of the child’s oral language (receptive and expressive language) and reading and spelling abilities.

Assessment Summary 

This includes a brief summary of the assessment completed. Please note, a summary report does not include detailed interpretation of assessment results.

Discharge Summary

This includes a summary of the child’s therapy goals, brief summary of interventions utilised to target the child’s goals, reason for discharge and further recommendations (if applicable).

Additional assessments can be completed if necessary and if requested by the parent/caregiver. The price is dependent on the time taken to provide services, and may vary depending on your circumstances. Please consult with the administration team and/or your therapist regarding the duration that your therapist anticipates to reach the outcome.

  • The Fee Schedule will be updated in line with the NDIS Price Guide increases
  • Rebates are not available from Medicare or Private Health Funds for all discipline’s initial consultations and for all Psychology appointments
